- I've been using Windows Media Player Classic Home Cinema on my previous laptop (windows 7). It works fine and I like it very much. I downloaded it on my new windows 8 laptop and when I opened the video, it says: 'Media Player Classic - Home Cinema could not render some of the pins in the graph, you may not have the needed codecs or filters.
- Start up MPC with no video playing. Go to View -> Options -> Filters -> Overrides, click Add Filter. Scroll over and click on Winamp DSP to Directshow. Click Ok, then Ok again. Close MPC, and now click on a video file you have associated with MPC. Once it's playing click on Play -> Filters -> Winamp DSP to Directshow. Select MuchFX2.
That part is available with a combination of Windows Media Player and media center point in which you can have both of them with other popular DirectShow players such as Media Player Classic, GOM Player, zoom player, KM Player and many other.

Windows Media Player Classic
Using them about 6 years i think!
But this player may not be good for newbies, as sometimes some settings should be changed for proper playback!
(Yes i use other players too... at home MPC.)
(At work, college use VLC, KMP, GOM)
This is easy enough to fix.
- open Windows Explorer -> Tools -> Folder Options -> File Types.
- scroll down to MPG (or whatever file extension you want to open using MPC)
- click on Advanced -> New
- in the Acion field, enter: Media Player Classic
- in the Application... field, Browse to mplayerc.exe and select it
- add '%1' to the end, so that in the Application field, it reads like so:
'C:Program Filesmplayer.exe' '%1'
The %1 represents the file you want to open (eg. movie.mpg), and the quotes around %1 is in case there are spaces in the path/filename (ie. to make it commandline-friendly).
When you right-click on an MPG file, it will now show 'Media Player Classic' in the context menu.
'If only it was updated by the author.'
You can use Media Player Classic Home Theatre, which is more or less a continuation of this project. MPC-HT is great. It even plays FLVs.

Hi,
Unfortunately, installing latest MPC-HC didn't solve the issue to me. I want to play the following stream with MPC-HC:
http://admin.gamaxmedia.hu/player-inside-full?streamid=dunalive&userid=mtva
I'm getting the same issue, as Krypton00:

I've found out so far, that this is an RTMP (Flash) media stream.
The stream plays fine in a browser, but I don't want to play it there. I'd prefer to have the stream playing in MPC-HC or some other compatible player application.
I've already tried ...
-VLC -> doesn't play, 'messages' say:

-SMPlayer -> buffers shortly, than it doesn't do anything further. No ideas of where to find error messages.
Isn't there one single player that can play this stream? I'd prefer to install a codec to have that working with MPC. But which one??? I've already installed latest ffmpeg, LAV, ffdshow codecs. These don't provide a solution in this case at all together with MPC.
