Hi All
I am having a problem with our Imacs. When we first installed windows 7 on our macs we found that we had no sound on the windows side and i figured out that the wrong drivers where installed so i have got the right driver off the MAC OS disk and i have installed the sound driver manually on our macs.
This originally fixed the problem but not every so often the sound driver breaks and we have no sound on the windows side. When i diagnose the sound driver is says there is a fix for this please apply this fix. I apply this fix and surprise sound comes back but this keeps on happening and is rather annoying.
Has anyone had this before and if so has anyone found a fix .
Thanks
Scott

Apple Cirrus Logic Driver
Hi,
I brought my iMac back in december 2011 and have been using the default microphone ever since, recently I've noticed that the quality of the mic had deteriorated and so I decided to buy a new one. I purchased the Sandberg Headset One (http://www.amazon.co.uk/Sandberg-125-26-Headset-One/dp/B003OYOBY0) with the headphone splitter adapter, the microphone works perfectly on OSX and is very good quality for the price, although when I'm on Windows 7 via bootcamp the microphone stops working alltogether and the default iMac Microphone is all the works, the headphones on the headset still work, it's just the mic that is malfunctioning. I've tried to install new drivers for the Cirrus Logic CS4206A (AB 32) sound card but no luck getting the microphone to work at this point.
Does anyone know how to solve this issue and get the microphone to work on Windows, or has anyone else experianced this issue?
ThanksI solved this on my laptop just now, but not quite sure how.
I uninstalled the driver, and clicked the checkbox when uninstalling the driver to delete the files.
Then, after rebooting, it worked. I suspect it worked because I had earlier installed other drivers, which it then defaulted to. I installed the realtek audio drivers off the Mac OS X cd, but I suspect that wasn't it.
I installed cirrus logic drivers from here:
http://www.cirrus.com/en/support/lic/lic3.html?uri=/en/pubs/software/CS4207WinVista_Win7_32-64-bit6-6001-1-21.zip
Or maybe it was the vista drivers I got from:
http://www.stuffedcow.net/macbook_audio
Or maybe these two sources drivers' are the same - and I did just get it from the cirrus site
If you get it working, I recommend you reply here and state exactly what it was that got it working for you. Just make sure to uninstall the driver and in doing so delete the files too (there's a checkbox in vista). This way it will default to what appears to be older drivers if/when you install those.
Message was edited by: TennokuI am trying to get the audio working on my brand new macbook pro 15' i7 on Vista x64. It says the chip is Cirrus Logic CS4206A (AB 11) but there are no drivers available on the internet. I'm using the BootCamp 3.1 that came with the MBP's Snow Leopard 10.6.3 install dvd.
Currently Vista says
Windows cannot initialize the device driver for this hardware. (Code 37)

Driver problems with Windows Professional XP 64bit EditionWell, after looking around the forum here I found an answer that works! I wish I could remember who to give credit too though. I installed the latest Vista drivers and I got static all the time. I tried another members suggestion of disabling the X-Fi device in the Device manager every time I log off and then enable the X-Fi the next time I log in. I have great sound as long as I do that. Also, for connecting to a home system I am using the DTS-60, $00 on this website, but it works well if you havea DTS decoder. I am using the X-Fi extreme Music edition. Good Luck, hopefully another driver is on the way.

I found a driver update on the toshiba website for my machines realtek sound driver for windows 7 so I tried it and it worked (sort of). Now I have the stereo mix option set as default but I also cannot make any changes in the sound recording page (the tabs are nor functioning and my cursor spins it's little processing circle when it is over the page). I can't even close the page without using the option from the task bar and sometimes that fails so I have to use the task manager to close the page. Anyone else have this problem?

These two drivers should work for your Windows 7. Although they carry the same version and date, they are different files with different sizes. Try them both.

It seems that Built-In audio driver is the one that causes the problem.
I disabled CS4206a driver in Driver Manager to prevent that.
But I really want my sounds back.
I've also tried CS4207driver from Cirrus Logic, and a old driver.
but none seems to be helping.
Any advice??Thank you all for the replies. Unfortunatly, I found that audio driver is not the problem.
After disablling, removing the audio driver from the system32/drivers, the time til to get crash has indeed EXTENDED, but it still crashes..
misalaram, thank you for the idea. Formatted windows 8 and installed JUST the graphics card driver directly from the nvidia. Still crashes..
I think it is sort of like kernel panic. Which microsoft has said that they implemented multi-tasking capable kernel. I think somthing is unstable..this is the last problem i have with boot camp. I finally managed to run the boot camp driver install thing, which fixed all the driver problems except that i still have no sound, i have tried the built in speakers, headphones, and some external speakers, but none of them are detected. Also, the sound works fine in Mac OSX mode, just not in windows.
I have Windows Vista Home Premium 32-bit, so i would probably need the drivers for that OSI solved this on my laptop just now, but not quite sure how.

Message was edited by: TennokuI just installed a K7T Turbo2 motherboard for my #2 system and am having a problem installing the VIA sound driver. The system freezes up before it finishes the installation and once I reboot the Device Manager says that since Windows stopped responding when trying to start the device, it wouldn't attempt to start it again.
I've tried new drivers (both sound and chipset), tried reinstalling the drivers a few times, made sure the sound card was active in the BIOS, and even removed a couple of extra spacers from under the mobo so I just have them on the four corners. Any other suggestions?
Thanks,

Elsa Erazor-XI think during the course of trying to get it to work, it requested the gm16.dls file. However, I think I finally got it installed from the Windows disk. Could this still be causing the problem?
Also, I tried out my SB Live! card from my primary system - the drivers installed and the card worked fine. I would prefer not to have to buy a seperate sound card, if I can get the on-board one working.
Thanks again,
z-manI recently installed Windows 10 build 9841 on my Dell Inspiron 3531 from an old bootable USB I had lying around from last October or so. The OS and a few updates installed without issue, but this morning, strange things started happening. The computer was
in sleep mode. For some reason, and without my consent or approval, the computer turned on by itself and began installing a new OS (which I would later discover to be Build 9926). To my pleasant surprise, there are many improvements. However, my audio is now
completely down. I checked the sound drivers, and everything looks fine. I even tried a Realtek 6.0 driver, which gave me error code 18 upon restart and did nothing. I did, however, notice a few small clues in the Events and Driver Details tabs of the
properties of my sound driver. Under 'Information' in 'Intel(R) Display Audio Properties,' there are some events titled 'Device Install Requested,' 'Driver Service Added (IntcDAud)' and 'Device installed (intcaud.inf).'
Under 'Device install requested,' I found this:
Device HDAUDIOFUNC_01&VEN_8086&DEV_2882&SUBSYS_80860101&REV_10004&70377b6&0&0201 requires further installation.
However, I do not see how this could be the problem, as the exact same sequence and text appear in the original install six days prior, and my sound worked then.
Also, under the Device Manager tab 'Other Devices,' I found another listing of my sound driver with error code 28. The entry is entitled 'Audio Device on High Definition Audio Bus.' The error says:
'The drivers for this device are not installed. (Code 28)
This operation returned because the timeout period expired.
To find a driver for this device, click Update Driver.'
Please help, I want my sound back!!TPB

After I installed Windows 8.1 update 1 the sound driver stopped working properly. When I want to play some music, video or even system sounds, sound appears after 1-2 minutes. At that time HDD usage is 100% cause of windows audio device graph isolation. I’ve installed that IDT High Definition (HD) Audio Driver from HP’s driver support site, but that’s not working. As I see in device manager driver’s release date is 24.10.2012. I think, it’s too old for Windows 8.1. Can you help me? Is there any other newer version of that sound driver? Also I’m sending two pictures where are HDD usage and driver release date.

Click the “Kudos, Thumbs Up' on the right to say “Thanks” for helping!I use a MBP 13' 2010 model, and I've used it for a long time, but it's never had any problems with Bootcamp until now.
Last month I bought a copy of Windows 8 Pro x64 (disc) and I wanted to install it on my recently clean-installed Mac. I installed it with no problems using Bootcamp. Booting into Windows 8, I found that the Bootcamp Drivers weren't compatible with Windows 8, but I looked up a guide that told me just to install the drivers one by one. I did that and rebooted.
The drivers still didn't work for some reason. The brightness controls weren't adjustable, the keyboard shortcuts didn't work, the trackpad failed as well, and numerous other problems plagued me in Windows mode. I re-installed the drivers and rebooted, but it still didn't work. I even installed the Nvidia display driver seperately, but no go. Is this Bootcamp's problem? Most likely the driver's out of date.
So I'm stuck using my office computer now, until I can find a way to fix this. Any help would be appreciated.defan752,
I recently put Windows 8 (64bit) on my 15' 2009 MBP. I performed a clean install utilizing Boot Camp. I followed instructions found online. Prior to installing Win8, I had WinXP installed on a partition, which worked perfectly.
For my Win8 installation I upgraded my MBP's OS from Snow Leopard to Mountain Lion. Mountain Lion comes with a newer version of Boot Camp (version 4.0 - I believe). The newer version has a slightly different process for driver installation. It has you create a driver installation disc within the Boot Camp Asstant software running on my Mac BEFORE creating the partition and installation. First it will connect to the interenet and download the latest support files for the drivers for your machine, then it will ask you to insert a blank disc, upon which it will write Windows friendly installation file (the disc contained an executable file [.exe] which is to be run on the newly installed windows parition). While Boot Camp (4.0 or whatever it is that came with Mountain Lion) doesn't have official support for Windows 8, utilizing the Windows 7 installation method will create a Driver CD that works in Win8. After creation of driver disc, follow the normal installation instructions (create partition, install win8). Once Win8 finishes installing, go to the desk top (Windows Button + D), pop in the driver disc and the Executable file. After the file runs the drivers will be installed but will require a reboot in order to be utilized. Reboot your machine and you should be good to go.
NOTE: hold on to that driver disc, I have already had to use it to repair some of my drivers that got messed (my own fault, not mac's or MS) and reran the executable file which fixed everything again.
NOTE: You will be able to utilize much of the drivers in the Win8 environment, however there are limitations. While the trackpad supports multitouch, it is limited (two finger right click, two finger scrolling). The nifty new multitouch gestures in Win8, are not yet supported. I suspect they will be with future updates to these drivers. But we won't get that until Boot Camp can fully support Win8. Also I noticed that my speakers don't switch to headphones when I plug them in, nor does it recognize the toslink connection. I'm still looking for answers to those problems.
For more details regarding the driver support in Windows 8 running on a Mac i found this website useful:

I'm not an amature as I'm usually quite good at finding
device drivers as I did a lot of manual driver installations in Windows 98 and 95 but this one as stumped me. The even more annoying thing is, I have lost the OEM disk for the camera (although, I wasn't entitrely sure if it contained a device driver for it)
and I have got it to work once but that was in Windows 7 Ultimate x86. Now my computer is running a 64 bit version of Windows (Windows 7 Enterprise to be precise, as described in the title) and I know some drivers do not like running in 64 bit if they are
not native to them but I was wondering if anybody possibly knows how to sort this. If it is a compatibility issue with 64 bit operating systems then so be it but I was hoping somebody could assist me with this and possibly find a driver solution to work this
